Il Volo: "Placido Domingo told us he was our number one fan"

"I listen to Placido Domingo since I was five years old and now is that he listens to us," says the tenor of Il Volo, Gianluca Ginoble.

Gianluca Ginoble insured -via telephone from Abruzzo- that in April, he will return to Venezuela with his peers Ignazio Boschetto and Piero Barone, who complete the Italian trio Il Volo lyrical pop. Gianluca promises the [17]-year tenor, will sing some of the songs of We are love, which released the group album in November.
The recording plate has some strong collaborations, as the Spanish tenor Placido Domingo in Il theme song and the performer Cosi Italian Eros Ramazzotti. Moreover, the young, still retains a cassette of legendary tenor Luciano Pavarotti, said that they also recorded a theme with Mexican singer Belinda.

-So far have shown no songs written by you. Will you at some point?
-On the new album we have only four versions and I think there are eight original songs, which we intervene in the process of composition. As for our own songs, Ignazio and I wrote some very nice things, let's see if they go on the next album.

While recording Il Canto with Placido Domingo, Did he say to you something memorable?
-Remembering that day excites me. I listen to Placido Domingo since I was five years old and now it turns out he listens to us. He said he was delighted with our voices since we started. Also, it was our number one fan. We can say: "Placido Domingo is our number one fan".


- Had any of you start thinking about other musical projects in parallel with Il Volo?
-No, to be honest, because we think our voices together are really strong. If we split it will not the same, I think we would lose a lot if we sing separately.

- So Il Volo is a lifelong project?
- Uhm! Well, that we want. Hope singing together forever, why not? It's a nice life project.

- Do you think that because of you classical music is more popular?
-No, no, that achievement is Bocelli's, Pavarotti's ... Perhaps we have achieved reaching many young people. For example, I remember the audience we had in Valencia and Caracas, and I think that 80% were young boys. I think it is due to the arrangements we have made to the songs.

-You toured with Barbra Streisand at the end of last year, how were you presented to that opportunity ?
- She contacted us! Recibibos an email in which she said she loved us and wanted us as guests on his tour. I can proudly say that she contacted us and we sing with her, I can said it! For me it was like singing with Frank Sinatra in the female version. It was even more wonderful to do it in the most important compounds of the United States, as the Hollywood Bowl, for example. I think in all the concerts were over 20,000 people and singing with her "Smile". It was truly magnificent.
