The Italian group’s “We Are Love,” filmed March 26 in Miami, will be shown nationwide starting June 1 but airs at 9 p.m. Saturday, April 13, on WTVS, Detroit’s Channel 56. The show includes performances in English, Italian and Spanish, including renditions of Sarah McLachlan’s “Angel,” One Direction’s “Little Things,” “Can You Feel the Love” from “The Lion King” and “Maria” from “West Side Story,” among others, as well as a collaboration with Mexican singer Belinda.
Il Volo’s Gianluca Ginoble notes that “We Are Love” is different from Takes Flight.”
“That was classical songs, Italian songs, so this is a little bit different,” he explains. “We sang a lot of songs in English for this one because our English is getting better every day, but we kept the same kind of music, operatic pop.”
The “We Are Love” album will be released at the end of May with five bonus studio recordings. While in Miami the trio also filmed a holiday special in Miami, “Buon Natale,” that will premiere Nov. 30 with an album and DVD release as well. Meanwhile, Il Volo is planning to spend several months in Los Angeles this year to continue working on the members’ English and also “to be close to the record company and the promotion and everything” for its upcoming releases, says the group’s Piero Barone.
