Leave it to the Italians to do things a little classier.
Il Volo, a Roman boy band gaining popularity in the U.S., specializes in heart-melting classics like "O Sole Mio" ("My Sunshine") and "Smile," a Nat "King" Cole standard.
When the trio, composed of Piero Barone, 18, Ignazio Boschetto, 17, and Gianluca Ginoble, 17, sings, you're reminded of the lush, mature voices of Andrea Bocelli or Josh Groban. But their fresh-faced look is nothing short of the Italian Jonas Brothers.
Il Volo – which means "Flight" – is the epitome of cross-generational appeal: After appearances last year on "American Idol" and the series final of "Entourage," the trio will open eight shows for Barbra Streisand, including Brooklyn's Barclays Center on Oct. 11 and 13.

"I can't believe I'm 17 and we will sing with Barbra Streisand," said Ginoble, the baritone of the group, in a recent phone interview before a Cleveland concert. "It's an experience that I will never forget."
The trio first met in 2009 as contestants on a televised Italian singing competition, wowing audiences when they performed "O Sole Mio." Managed by Andrea Bocelli's manager Michael Torpedine and legendary Italian singer/music mogul Tony Renis, the group has found swift success, releasing their self-titled debut album in 2010.
While their fan base is largely the 40-plus crowd, in Latin America they've attracted screaming crowds of teen girls. In 2011, they received two Latin American Grammy nominations. "We're most famous in Latin America," said Ginoble, who is from the central Italian region of Abruzzo.
They hope to bring classical music with modern arrangements to new audiences. "It's a different kind of music the younger generation can or can't understand. But that was our goal: to bring our music to a young generation," said Ginoble.
