The singers Gianluca Ginoble, 18 , Piero Barone , 20 , Ignazio Boschetto, 19 , seem at first glance like the Italian Jonas Brothers. At second glance too. They were on Monday ( 4 ) in a São Paulo hotel to promote their tour . Dozens of fans waited in the lobby to get autographs . The three are fun , dress in urban fashion and are averse to formalities . But just hear them sing for the third impression. They form the trio Il Volo , a trio of world success, specializing in romantic songs and Italian lyric repertory . Have sold over 2 million CDs and toured the stages of all the continents .
Il Volo is now in their first tour in Brazil and promoting the third album from a four-year career , titled We are love . The tours starts today in Rio de Janeiro ( 05 / 11 ) and follow to Curitiba ( 08 / 11 ), Porto Alegre ( 09 / 11 ) and São Paulo ( 06 / 11 , 11/11 , 12/11 and 13/ 11) . " Last year , we were here for two concerts in Sao Paulo ," says Piero to Epoca . " It was so successful that we are now in Brazil. We are happy because we conquer the young audience around the world. "
Baritone Gianluca is the most talkative . " We are very young , so our parents accompany us on tour ," he says . " But we did something our contemporary Lady Gaga failed to do . We take our generation to the theater to hear ... opera ! " But the greatest success of Il Volo is , according to the tenor Ignazio , gathering in large theaters not only the teenagers who form the majority of their fans , but the entire family . " But we are not Italian singers who sing for the Italian colony throughout the world ," says Ignazio . " We sing for all audiences . This universality achieved with quality. " Piero says music is eternal and operatic music tends to unite the generations : " In twenty years , it will continue to be sucessful. I doubt that pop stars will have the same fate . "
Of the three , only Piero is sure he wants to continue a career to the opera stages . " My background is operatic , always heard opera at home and I think I have to contribute to spinto lirico ligeiro tenor ," says Piero . He and Ignazio studied with the same teacher , but Ignazio has doubts about the future . Gianluca says he has no classical individuality and likes to play both songs of Frank Sinatra and opera arias . " I do not want to sing opera as Andrea Bocelli , who sings badly when trying to sing opera . " Gianluca is not optimistic about the future of opera. " I doubt if in thirty years there will still be public for classical music ," he says . " But we try to show young people that the great songs are timeless . And I think we're making it happen. " That is what the term Il Volo means, " flight " , says Piero : " You fly with the voice , something only the bel canto can offer . Flying in tune and fly all over the world - is our motto . "
The three say they prefer shows than recording . " The warm of the public , the screams of the fans , everything gives us tremendous power when we're on stage ," says Gianluca . " We do not change shows for recordings , although the albums are responsible for our projection ." According to Piero , the selection of the repertoire for their concerts and records results of their meeting with the business group . " Our intention is to make a program of timeless songs ," says Piero . The routine does not get tiring when touring , they say. " We have the support and love of our families ," says Ignazio . " It is this positive energy that we wish to bring to the public . "
The routine of the three musicians is based on rapid warm ups and vocalizing . " The vocal technique is important to project the voice to the public ," says Ignazio as he begins to sing " O sole mio" . But according to Piero , the biggest secret to keep his voice intact and shiny is: " Sleeping . The singer should not drink cold and eat right . A glass of wine here and there does not hurt . But he needs to sleep a lot. "
They want Brazil to become a loyal market for their albums and shows. So much so that for their next album , they plan to record at least one song in Portuguese . " Maybe something of Toquinho , maybe ' Garota de Ipanema ' ," says Gianluca singing the song in good Portuguese . " We love the Brazilian popular music . " Pena says Ignazio , she is hardly known in Italy . " Palhares is an exception ," he says
