Il Volo: Chart Beat Meet & Greet (Video)

The trio discusses its fresh blend of pop and classical, as its latest release roars onto the Classical Crossover Albums chart
"What Il Volo does is we don't sing opera and we don't really sing pop. We sing classical songs in a fresh way and pop songs in a really classical way," the trio's tenor Piero Barone explains.
Il Volo, rounded out by fellow tenor Ignazio Boschetto and baritone Gianluca Ginoble, recently stopped by Billboard's New York studios to chat about its music, including its new "We Are Love: Special Edition," which bows at No. 3 this week on Billboard's Classical Crossover Albums chart. In its original release, the set debuted and peaked at No. 2 in December.
Il Volo first arrived on the tally in April 2011 with its self-titled effort, which went on to lead for four weeks. The threesome reigned again last year, for an extraordinary 17 weeks, with "Il Volo … Takes Flight: Live from the Detroit Opera House." In just more than two years, all seven of the act's chart entries have reached the top 10, the most among all artists in that span.

Millions of US fans fell in love with the astonishing talent of “Italian teen sensation” (Wall Street Journal) IL VOLO following their wildly successful (over 2,100 broadcasts) 2012 PBS Special “Il Volo Takes Flight,” and their special appearance on Barbra Streisand’s fall 2012 tour. Now, they’re back with We Are Love (Special Edition) and a new PBS Special Il Volo: We Are Love, slated to air in major markets across the US throughout June 2013. Their album We Are Love (Special Edition) has just been released on May 28, 2013 on Geffen Records, featuring selections from their fall 2012 release We Are Love as well as five newly recorded songs. Il Volo hit the stage at Barnes & Noble to perform selections from their new album  and will signed copies after the performance. Check out some photos from the event!

Il Volo Go One Direction For Special Edition of We Are Love

Il Volo talks about covering One Direction for the release of the Special Edition of their album We Are Love on Tuesday, so are they open to joining forces with pop's biggest group?

Il Volo Cover One Direction's 'Little Things'

From a U.K. boy band to an Italian one! Il Volo covered One Direction‘s Ed Sheeran-penned ballad ‘Little Things’ for their PBS concert — and boy is it dreamy.

While there are only three members of Il Volo, as opposed to five members of 1D, two fewer voices didn’t lessen the impact of the emotionally weighty song.

Swoon!

The Il Volo boys sang the track while seated on the edge of the stage, lending even further intimacy. They are tenors and a baritone, so their rendition was deeper and a bit more emotive. But the verdict is in — we love their version and 1D’s original.
