IL VOLO to Tape PBS Specials at Fillmore Miami Beach

Due to the extraordinary success of the Italian teenage tenors' debut PBS Special "Il Volo Takes Flight," Live From The Detroit Opera House last year, the trio will shoot two more specials for PBS - "We Are Love" & "Buon Natale."
Both will be filmed in front of a live audience at The Fillmore Miami Beach at the Jackie Gleason Theater on March 26th & 27th. "We Are Love" will debut on PBS stations across the country beginning June 1, 2013 and "Buon Natale" will air starting November 30, 2013.

Il Volo: A Live PBS Recording in South Florida

 

Il Volo is an Italian operatic pop group who has swept the nation with their angelic and moving voices. Consisting of two tenors and one baritone, this trio has captured the hearts of many and continues to amaze with the announcement of their show at the Fillmore at the Jackie Gleason Theater, which will also be recorded by PBS studios.
The group started out on an Italian show similar to "American Idol" and it was history from there. Italian pop-opera teen singers Il Volo bring their music to the world

The three teens from Italy internationally known as Il Volo — Piero Barone, Ignazio Boschetto and Gianluca Ginoble — have grown-up music on their minds. For the past three years, Barone, 19, Boschetto, 17, and Ginoble, also 17, have been singing a pop-classical crossover brand of opera.
Barone, calling from a tour stop in South Florida, immediately acknowledges they “don’t sing real opera,” but his enthusiasm for the style is beyond reproach.
“Our goal is to bring this kind of music around the world,” he said. “Our music is for all ages. I grew up with this music, so the first time I heard this kind of music I fell in love with it. Everybody can love this music. When you discover it, you are going to love it.”
In the span of a mere two years, Il Volo has released four albums. The trio’s self-titled debut was released twice. One version, which includes songs in Italian, Spanish and English, was released in May 2011. A Spanish edition of the disc hit stores a month later. A live album, Il Volo Takes Flight: Live From the Detroit Opera House, arrived in February. There’s even a digital-only EP of Christmas songs.

Il Volo: Opera for the Belieber Set?

If there's one things American audiences have proven about our tastes for opera (or, more accurately, opera lite), is that we love it when it comes in a poppier package.
Ask a random person on the street to name acts from this genre, and they'll probably rattle off Andrea Bocelli, the Three Tenors, or maybe Il Divo. (Never mind the fact that these artists often perform standards and general ballads over proper opera).

What these artists and their ilk have offered is, to their credit, accessible in a way that allows fans to focus on the beauty of a particular song or voice. It doesn't take a lot of intellectual unpacking or much knowledge of a dramatic plot to enjoy Bocelli's voice taking flight. Of course, the good looks and press-savviness don't hurt, either.

Il Volo take over the stage for a concert held at Sony Centre for the Performing Arts in Toronto, Canada on Saturday night (August 25).
The Italian trio — Piero Barone, Gianluca Ginoble and Ignazio Boschetto — recently chatted with Billboard about their upcoming album.
“It’s going to be a surprise, because it’s so (varied),” Ignazio shared. “It has classical moments and pop moments. For the most part it’s new songs.”
But that’s not the only exciting news — Il Volo is also going on tour with Barbara Streisand!
“That for us is very exciting. Our manager is a big fan of hers, so I started to know about her because of him, and then I got many CDs of hers…and I love her. We met her at (the recording session for) ‘We Are the World (25 For Haiti)’ in 2010. She’s nice,” Ignazio added.
Il Volo will perform for six shows with Ms. Streisand.

Il Volo To Launch North America Tour

Il Volo will be returning to North America next month to kick off a tour that will keep them on the road until early October.
The tour will include a series of 28 concerts and 4 Canadian shows that begin August 12th in Minneapolis with stops in major markets Including NY's Beacon Theatre on September 4th.

"We've traveled all over the world these last two years but love our American audiences," commented the group about their upcoming US tour. "We can't wait to come back and perform for our fans," they concluded.

Kravis Center adds second performance for vocal group, Il Volo

The Kravis Center for the Performing Arts has added a second show for the Italian singing sensations Il Volo Live in Concert.  In addition to the previously announced performance on Tuesday, September 18 at 7:30 p.m., an earlier performance has been scheduled for the preceding Thursday, September 13, also at 7:30 p.m.

Tickets to see the musical trio are now on sale for the September 13 performance. Tickets for the Il Volo show on September 18 are also available for purchase.

The headliners of the song-filled PBS special Il Volo Takes Flight, Piero Barone (18), Ignazio Borschetto (17) and Gianuca Ginoble (16) have been dubbed The Teenage Tenors. They arrived in theU.S.music scene following their show stopping appearance on America’s Got Talent last year.

Their self titled debut CD debuted at No. 6 on the Billboard Top 200 Chart, and worldwide sales are approaching the one million mark.
